Roulette Online Casino Game
The most well-known casino game ever made, Roulette is a classic game of chance and excitement, and each year, countless players take their chances, place their bets, and enjoy the thrills of spinning the wheel, praying their lucky number comes in.
If you’ve not played roulette before, then rest assured that it’s one of the most straightforward games in a casino can play, and thanks to the fact that it requires little knowledge to begin playing, it's easy to see why punters all over the world take their chances!
The specific origin of Roulette remains somewhat shrewd in mystery, with various historians and gambling experts citing the game as originating at different times.
One thing they do agree on, however, is that it’s more than likely a French game, and a large percentage of historians believe it was developed by a French scientist in 1655, called Blaise Pascal.
While the game was almost certainly very different back then than it is today, the general theme and mechanism of the game likely remain somewhat “in-tact” and the fact the game’s lasted so long just goes to show how the mechanics behind the game are so well constructed, and thought-out.
Roulette: Game Overview
Much like any casino game, roulette requires players to place bets, which are then underwritten by the casino.
In standard European Roulette – the variant you are most likely to come across – you will see the roulette wheel has 37 numbers; one – 36, and a zero.
If you want, you can choose to bet on one of these numbers directly, and if you pick correctly, your wager will be paid back at 35:1. The more popular bets however, are the even – money bets, which involve placing a safer type of bet which is more likely to come in, in, of course, exchange for a lower payout.

The most well-known and common of these is red/black betting, and as the name probably suggests, you simply place a wager on red or black, and if the ball lands in your chosen colour on the roulette wheel, you win – double your money – although if you’ve picked incorrectly, you do of course lose your wager.
Other bets include evens and odds, high and low numbers, and there are also a number of specialised French bets, but these are little more complex and are best saved for another day.
Why the Roulette Game became so popular?
Internet gambling online has exploded the popularity of Roulette, and software suppliers have established virtual roulette games that are both entertaining, high quality, and gripping.
There are also a number of new, modernised roulette game variations that you’d never dream of seeing in a non-online casino, and some of these include 100/1 Roulette... Multi-Wheel Roulette... Mini-Roulette... And even progressive jackpot roulette!
One thing that is worth bearing in mind – and something that many players fall foul to, is that there are no systems, tactics, or “sure-fire” ways of winning, and at the end of the day, roulette does exist to make the casino’s money.
Having said that though, in the short term, it’s perfectly feasible that you hit a lucky streak, and end up winning lots of money, and thanks to roulette simplicity, it’s never been easy to get started – to go ahead and check out yourself, and see if it’s your lucky day!
