Blackjack Single Deck is a popular Blackjack variety you may already be familiar with. That’s because, it’s the type of Blackjack game the big high-rollers used to play back in the day in Las Vegas, and in all honesty, Single Deck Blackjack is pretty much starting point of Blackjack.
What Does Single Deck Mean?
In short, a single deck means there is only 52 cards in play. You may not have known this, but when you play Blackjack online, you will be using anywhere from 6-8 different decks of cards, which makes play completely random.
This is fine, but Single Deck Blackjack hold a big advantage over other variations for one main reason:
You Can Count Cards.
Ok… sure… it’s not something you can learn overnight…
But Single Deck Blackjack means you can follow what cards have been dealt out already, and then work out the probability of what cards should theoretically come next. Of course, it’s by no means a complete fool-proof method, and many card-counters go on long-losing runs before they start winning, but that’s the point…
In the long run, they will win because their edge over the casino, is higher than the edge the casino have over them.
How To Play Single Deck Blackjack?
It’s easy! In fact, it’s just the same as regular Blackjack, with a couple minor rules changes.
Simply choose how much you want the Blackjack stake to be, click the chip denominations you wish to use, and once your bet is placed and you’re ready to go, click the ‘deal’ button to get started. Once you’ve done this, you’ll be given two cards, and the dealer will deal himself two, as well.
Only one of his cards is face up however; the other will be exposed after the action has finished.
So now, you can either stand your hand, hit and take another card, split, if you have a pair, or double down if you want to gamble on your hand improving with another card.
At the end of the action, the dealer will expose his second card, and if your hand is better than his (nearer to 21), then you win! Easy, right?
Thankfully the payouts in Single Deck Blackjack are exactly the same as those that you’d expect to find at other Blackjack tables you might have already played at.
For instance, your main wager, as well as any splits or doubles you made, are paid out at even money, or in fractional form, 1/1.
If you manage to get Blackjack, you will enjoy a lucrative 3/2 payout, meaning for every £20 you stake (and get Blackjack), you will receive £50 back in total!
