Blackjack - How to Play
Blackjack is a simple game –it’s relatively easy to pick up and enjoy… and while it’s quite a relaxing and calming table game to play, there are a few simple guidelines you should follow in order to help you enjoy your blackjack experience as much as possible. And of course, knowing the rules helps as well…
Which is why, in this post, we’re going to look at the basics of how to play – starting now!
Prior to the game starting, you must first decide how much you wish to stake, and whether or not you want to place any of the side bet wages which are available to you (side bets may or may not be available dependent on the game you are playing; they won’t be covered here as we are focusing solely on regular blackjack itself).
Once you have confirmed your bet, simply click the “deal” or “play” button and you’ll then be dealt two cards by the dealer, who in turn, deals him/herself one card.
It is then up to you to make a decision; if you like the look of your hand and think you stand a good chance of winning as it is then you would opt to stand – which means you would not take any more cards.
If however you think that the dealer is in a better position. The new you will likely want the chance to improve your hand, in which case you will hit – which gives you the opportunity to take one or more cards to try and increase your hand total.
You may take as many cards as you like. If you opt to hit although if your hand total goes over 21.
Your hand will bust and the game will automatically end – in this case, your wager will be lost and a new game will be ready to begin.
Once you’ve made your decision, the dealer will then act and if you are playing a European variation of blackjack, the dealer will more than likely continue drawing cards until his hand either equals 17 or higher, or is bust.
After the dealer has performed his or her actions, then that’s it – if you win, you are paid out at even money, but if you’ve lost the hand you will of course lose your wager.
